The Laboratorio de Experimentación Artistica (LEA) was established by the Faena Group to support the creative development of artists and researchers through a program of prizes and grants . The selected artists conceive their proyects in dialogue with the different areas of the Faena Art District. This urban complex, which is planned to be concluded by 2010, is an initiative of the businessman Alan Faena. It will group six buildings distributed along 5 blocs in Puerto Madero, the old port of Buenos Aires. This year, the LEA and the Faena Foundation will move their headquarters to the old machine room of Los Molinos (The Mills), a historical building erected during the first years of the 20th Century, at a time when Argentina was considered the "world's granary". The second edition of the Prizes F calls for submissions from Latin American artists, looking for two projects that "interact with the space, the building's history and/or its urban context in a novel, intelligent and poetic way. The projects may include installation, sculpture, painting, video, new media, sound, or its combinations." Two projects will be selected, which will be financed and produced by Faena Group, in collaboration with Intel and Philips.
