Ein Fenster zu zeitgenössischer arabischer Kultur

Vom 4. bis 24. Juli 2011 findet in London das erste Festival zeitgenössischer Kultur der arabischen Welt statt. Es wird unter der Schirmherrschaft des Bürgermeisters unter dem Titel Shubbak: A Window on Contemporary Arab Culture veranstaltet und umfasst über 70 Veranstaltungen an mehr als 30 kulturellen Einrichtungen in der ganzen Stadt. Shubbak (das arabische Wort für "Fenster") präsentiert ein weit gespanntes Programm der visuellen Künste, Film, Musik, Theater, Tanz, Literatur, Architektur, Lesungen und Diskussionen, viele davon mit freiem Eintritt, ausgerichtet von führenden Kulturorganisationen in London. Zu den Höhepunkten des Programms visueller Künste gehören:

Global launch of Footnote to a Project* the 2011 Abraaj Capital Art Prize book project, followed by a panel discussion focusing on opportunities for artists in the Arab World, Mosaic Rooms.

Interference. A three-day exploration of art, agency and agitation in the Arab world and beyond. Presented by the ICA in partnership with Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha.

Al Bab: A Gateway to Contemporary Art, Sotheby's.
12. - 30. Juli
Public Domain: Public and Civic Spaces in the Arab World. Curated by Nous, Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
