The artists honor their parents. The title means "mother and father". Ablikim Akmullaev's mother is from birth a strict Muslim. Similarly to many members of the Uigur people, her family escaped Stalinist terror and fled to China in 1933.

Zitta Sultanbaeva's father was born in the family of a Soviet civil servant and raised as an atheist. Following personal tragedy that occurred after perestroika, he sought comfort in Islam.
