8th Sharjah Biennial, 2007

On April 4th opened the 8th Sharjah Biennial. It is the 3rd edition directed by Hoor Al Qasimi, who in 2002 was able to assert essential changes in the concept of the Biennial, which exists since 1993.

This year, there were 79 artists and art groups invited to present their works at the Sharjah Art Museum, the Expo Centre and, for the first time for this event, in the public space, in the Arts Area and the Heritage Area of the city.

By choosing the theme "Still Life. Art, Ecology and the Politics of Change", the organizers propose to view "art as a way of creating a better understanding about our relationship with nature and the environment, whilst considering its social, political and cultural dimensions in an interdisciplinary way."
