15th Internat. Festival of Video Art of Casablanca
Program Univ'art for art students from Morocco and other countries

The 15th edition of the Festival International d’Art Vidéo de Casablanca (FIAVC) will take place from 15 to 19 April 2008. Unique in its kind in the Arab world and all Africa, the event has been for many years at the service of a pioneering domain in perpetual development: video art. Since its creation in 1993, the festival has become a space of exchange and dialogue, and a meeting place for a growing number of artists coming from different cultural horizons. At the same time, the festival enjoys a good response from the public. The previous edition gathered more than 10,000 people.

The FIAVC was established and is organized by the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences Ben M’sik in Casablanca, University Hassan II - Mohammedia. One of its priorities of interest are the young Moroccan creators graduated from universities and schools of art. The FIAVC always follows the current developments and tries to contribute to promote art production and training in new technologies in universities and schools in Morocco. It organizes several workshops for research and experimentation during the whole year, as well as during the festival itself. It offers opportunities for these young creators to improve their knowledge, and to discuss their experiences and artistic concerns with specialists.

In this sense, every year the Festival dedicates a special part of it to the projection of video works of young artists from Morocco and other countries, under the Univ'art Program. This program has been very successful in previous years, what encouraged the organizers to reach out to universities and art schools in other countries, in order to organize inter-university exchanges between students exploring the domain of visual arts and multimedia.

The goals of Univ'art are:
- To facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences between young Moroccan and visiting artists in the field of video art and multimedia.
- To promote the work of young artists, giving them the possibility of presenting it and to discuss it with other artists and professionals.
- To foster intercultural exchanges between universities.
- To support exchanges between students, young artists, and professional artists in order to develop the proficiency of the younger ones.

The FIAVC seeks partner institutions in different countries to carry out this program and propose one or two students to participate. FIAVC will take care of the accommodation, meals and transport from the airport to the hotel, as well as to all places of the festival, while the partner institutions cover the students' trips. The students will be able to show their works during the afternoons dedicated to this program. They will also have the possibility to benefit from the workshops and to attend all Festival events for free. The FIAVC's proposal is open to discussion with the interested partner institutions.

The program of the International Festival of Video Art of Casablanca includes:
- Shows and performances
- Video and interactive multi-media installations
- Projections (professional artists and Univ’art program)
- Workshops and meetings with the invited artists
- Conferences
