Short news & tips Marrakech Art Fair From 8 to 11 October 2010, the city of Marrakech will host the first international edition of a modern and contemporary art fair in Morocco. Forty art galleries will meet art professionals, collectors, artists, and art lovers at the Es Saadi Palace during this 4-day event. Among the participating galleries, half come from the Arab world, primarily from North Africa. A series of cultural and artistic events will take place during the fair, including the exhibitions: Resonance: Contemporary Moroccan Artists Across the World, Marrakech Museum, 7 October - 7 December 2010. Contemporary African Art from the André Magnin collection, at the former agency of La Banque du Maroc, Djemaa el Fna Square. Around the Palaver Tree, a dialogue between artist Farid Belkahia and poet Adonis, at Dar Bellarj Foundation. Along with the fair, Brahim Alaoui, Director of the cultural program, is organizing a circuit to show visitors the artistic and cultural wealth of Marrakech and, together with local players, stimulate reflection on art, as conceived by Arab artists of today. Round tables organized with the help of art market specialist Roxana Azimi will address the subject of the art market in the Arab world, as well as the role of patrons and collectors. Pascal Amel, director of the periodical Art Absolument, will lead a debate on art in Morocco at the dawn of globalization. These round tables will take place in the lounges of the Es Saadi Palace.
